Why won't my canon SD 750 camera turn on?

When I try to power on my Canon SD 750 camera it will not do any thing. It was working one minute and not working the next. I was taking great pictures one minute and about 2 hours later it would not do anything???

There is a micro switch under the battery door on the sd chip side, near the hinge of the door. It's white in color with a black lever that catches a notch in the door to slide it toward the hinge as the door closes. The switch may be stuck or frozen or it may have gotten broke off,(no black lever protruding out of little white switch) and camara won't energize if it's not functioning perfectly. Canon's design is very poor in this area, the swtich is just a real little POS.

"Had same problem. Camera died. Thanks to previous answers I was able to locate the microswitch, found the black nib had broken off so cut a small piece off the end of an eraser and placed it on the microswitch to make a contact when hinged flap was closed.

So far has worked perfectly.

Thanks to previous answers.

for me it was my battery charger, the pins in it weren't connecting with the battery terminals

I have a third party universal charger. Its been a while since we have used our camera and could not get it to turn on even though the light was green on the charger. I realized that the charger allowed the battery to fit two ways so if I didn't put it in correctly the contacts on the battery were not touching the contacts on the charger. I flipped the battery over, charged, good to go. Hope this helps someone else.
