Headsets broken, only works when cable is pushed in hard.

Headsets broken, only works when cable is pushed in hard. Headset gets no volume or input from the controller or something because it only works when I push the cable into the headset extra hard and hold it there. Not sure if this is common but thats how Id describe it. ANSWERS:
