Help! 98 Chevy 3500 stuck in 5th

Help! 98 Chevy 3500 stuck in 5th My 98 Chevy 3500 C/T is stuck in 5th. There was no warning signs, noises... I got in my truck, started it and it wouldn't move out of 5th. I checked the hydraulic fluid and it looked like mud. Where should I start looking?

"Is the vehicle stuck in 5th with no movement? If so I would check the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder first. Try turning the vehicle off and see if you can run through the gears. If the clutch is not disengaging the transmission you will not be able to shift without having the proper meshing of gears.

I would start by checking your clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder to make sure that they are actuating properly."
