Is it normal to have play in your drive shaft?

Is it normal to have play in your drive shaft? I have a 1997 GMC sonoma, and if you take your hand, and push/pull on the drive shaft sideways, it moves probably 16th of an inch. Is this normal or doe sit mean that my middle bearing is bad (2 part drive shaft).

@parzival some movement is definitely expected and 1/16th of an inch seems to be within those tolerances. Make sure that you do not get a vibration sound (thumping) while driving which would be a more common for that bearing.
