Kenmore 110.70936990 gas dryer intermittently working

I'm experiencing intermittent working issues that started in January when it was cold outside.  The dryer seemed to "kick in" when the outside temps rose a bit throughout the day, so I thought it was somehow related (weird, I know).  I live in the New Orleans, LA area, it’s September, and it's been consistently hot all summer...and my dryer is getting worse...so that kinda blows that theory.
