Mouse suddenly stopped working

Mouse suddenly stopped working For no apparent reason the mouse does not respond, I didn't use it for a fee days while on holiday, I tried replacing the battery. I restarted the laptop. I checked and control panel declares that the transmitter is working. The blue light source is on. Can anyone help?
