Why does my ice maker not "change " to crush

"The ice bin isn't in the correct position. Take out the ice bin, on the back of freezer you'll notice a square cut out with a bar going across. That is where the metal piece on the back of the ice bin goes. Sometimes you have to pull the bar down then put the ice bin back in place. That bar is actually a lever operated by a solenoid that pulls it up or down depending on what you select.

Try that before you call a technician."
