Some people like to create art forms or objects such as sand castle, sand animals, sand flowers and other sand shapes. In beaches, children love to create art forms such as letters, shapes, face figure, and other drawings using the sand.

In the world, only few sand artists became famous. Some of the sand artists that became popular are:
- Ilana Yahav - world renowned Israeli sand animation artist
- Kseniya Simonova - Ukrainian sand artist who became popular when he won in Ukraine's Got Talent year 2009
- Sudarsan Pattnaik - internationally known Indian sand artist
- Dan Belcher - 2007 Solo World Champion of sand sculpting
- Radovan Zivny - a Czech artist who won several awards including 2nd place at the 2007 PNE International Sand Sculpture Competition
- Joseph Erwin Valerio - a Filipino sand artist who became popular when he won as the Philippines' Ultimate Talentadong Pinoy 2011
