The UNESCO National Commission (UNACOM) will hold the campaign called "Kizuna" which means solidarity or tie in Japanese. The word, Kizuna conveys a powerful message of unity. It also embodies the strength of the Philippines cooperation with Japan over the past 60 years.
The UNESCO is inviting schoolchildren worldwide to send messages of solidarity, in the form of postcards, for the Tsunami-affected schoolchildren and teachers of Japan, who need moral support from people around the world.
The messages which must be written in an official UN language, such as English or Japanese, should include sender's name, sex, age, grade/year level, or occupation and address together with attached picture, and an indication whether the sender is a student or a teacher.
The schools are encouraged to collect and send the postcards on or before July 31, 2011 at the following address:
Sendai UNESCO AssociationLikewise, the schools may send the postcards through the UNACOM Office located at the Ground Floor, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Building, 2330 Roxas Boulevard, Pasig City on or before July 18, 2011 to give time for UNACOM to transmit to Japan before the deadline.
