Selection of Youth Leaders for Rizal (Mga Makabagong Rizal: Pag-asa ng Bayan)

The Philippine Center for Gifted Education (PCGE), in cooperation with the National Historical Commission (NHC), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Tanghalang Pilipino (TP) will conduct the Selection of Youth Leaders for Rizal (Mga Makabagong Rizal: Pag-asa ng Bayan). This is in line with the 150th birthday of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

This activity aims to select thirty five (35) children and youth leaders including those with special needs and/or those twice exceptional who will commit themselves to the ideals of the national hero and to help elevate consciousness for a life of integrity, dignity, truth, honesty and love of country.

The nominations are open to the following age groups: Elementary - Grades III-VI; Secondary - 1st year to 4th year high schools; Tertiary - enrolled in tertiary or Voc-Tech programs; and Out-of-School Youth (OSY) who are enrolled in short term courses.

The criteria for the selection of children and youth leaders are the following:

1. Linguistic Intelligence;
2. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence;
3. Visual-Spatial Intelligence;
4. Musical Intelligence;
5. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence;
6. Interpersonal (Social) Intelligence;
7. Intrapersonal Intelligence; and
8. Naturalistic Intelligence.
   

The identified leaders will take their oath as exemplars on June 17, 2011 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay, Metro Manila.
