cd/dvd drive is missing from my system

cd/dvd drive is missing from my system

Dell Inspiron 1525 does not see the cd/dvd drive. I can open the drive, but when closed, the drive light flashes several times and nothing happens.

"Assuming that you are running Windows on your Dell, as this is a common problem, then there is a Microsoft FixIt application that usually resolves the missing DVD drive issue. Below is the link http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd...

If this does not work then there is also a registry fix, removing the upper/lower filters. This can be done by following the directions below;

''Run Command Prompt (type CMD in the Start Menu on Vista/7)

Type in ""regedit"" without the parrenthesis then click ok

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Then SYSTEM

Then CURRENT CONTROL SET

Then CONTROL

Then CLASS

Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

The whole thing looks like this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then delete the upper and lower filters that appear on the right hand side.''

Hope this helps,

Wes"
