charging port damaged - is it possible to repair?

charging port damaged - is it possible to repair? My husband tried to charge my ipad Air with his Kindle charger, in the process damaging the charging port. Apple have told me I will need to pay almost as much as for a new one for a replacement iPad and they will then repair mine and sell it as reconditioned.

First, Kindle charging port have different pin configuration and it wont be 100% compatible. Second, if you want to replace ipad air charging port, you must to have a hot press equipmwnt to do the right job.

I have a ipad pro 12.9...and the charging port is hardly working and i asked apple bout it and they said buy a new ....as matter of fact....what a way to do business....so ive been looking for someone that can do the repair and not thru apple
