iPhone 5 front camera wont work after front screen replacement.

iPhone 5 front camera wont work after front screen replacement.

I run an iPhone repair business in the UK, so I do have a reasonable amount of experience with these devices and until iOS 7 came out I had no issues with this problem I am about to explain. A customer came into the store yesterday with a broken screen and power button on the iPhone 5. So I replaced the power button flex to fix the button and replaced the screen with an original part. But then when I turned the phone back on everything worked perfectly apart from the front camera. I have sent my customer away to restore the device and then Im sure he will be back if it doesnt work, but does anyone know a fix for this? (I am always extra careful when removing the digitizer and camera flex cables, and yes I have checked if its plugged in correctly three times.)

I think I found a solution to the issue. I believe that it is possible to blow one of the IC connectors with static. I had to replace the whole phone for one of my customers. The only way I found to prevent this from happening in the future is to buy a static mat online, with a wrist strap and an earth plug, you can find this on ebay. Hope this helped people.

I had the same problem. I had a cracked screen so I replaced the front screen using an assembly kit I purchased online (home button and camera assembly included). Everything worked fine with the exception of the front facing camera. If I switched to the front facing camera in the camera app, the screen would look blurry and the camera app would freeze. I couldn't return back to the rear facing camera without restarting the phone. I tried connecting and disconnecting the camera connection multiple times without success. Finally, I removed the camera from my old display assembly and attached it to my new assembly. On the first try, everything worked fine. Problem solved for me.

This can happen is the battery is left plugged in during the repair and can sometimes call for a new front facing camera.

"has anybody come up with a solution for this yet?

I am having the same issue, I have replaced the ""iPhone 5 Front-Facing Camera and Sensor Cable Replacement"" twice with no luck. I've also done a factory reset on the phone and looked for any damaged I've may had cause with no luck."

You have most likely knocked off a componant when unplugging the connections that's under the black tape around were the camera flex connects or bent pins on the motherboard were it plugs in
