mac wont boot into recovery mode!

mac wont boot into recovery mode! I’ve had issues with my Mac and I tried to boot into recovery mode but it won’t voot it shows a circle with a line through it.

"Please give us your exact machine, what Operating system you have on the internal drive and some history on what the computer was doing prior to it failing. This can happen when the unit has a hard time recognizing the system, the system is to high for this model. It can happen when the drive has not been picked as the start up device.
