"If your laptop is running more slowly than usual or has become increasingly slow over the past several weeks or months, see the Acer Aspire 5253 Is Running Slowly problem page for possible problems and solutions.

Do you install too many applications on your computer? Or do you enable lots of startup programs? If you enable too many startup programs on your computer, these programs will start themselves automatically when your computer boots, which will slow down the startup speed of your computer. My Acer Aspire computer also runs very slow. Maybe you can try the below several methods to fix this issue.

Method 1: Remove Virus or Malware in Your PC

Windows 10 is susceptible to viruses and other types of malicious software. Virus or malware do no huge damage to your system, but they will slowly slow down your computer. If you are running Windows 10, you can use Windows Defender to troubleshoot malware and other potentially unwanted software for your PC.

Method 2: Clean Up Hard Drive to Free More Space

If you seldom clean up your Acer laptop, too many junk files may be left on your computer. They will occupy large disk space on your drive and slow down your computer. To make your computer faster, you need to clean these junk files regularly. iSunshare System Genius is a good junk file cleaner and a system optimizer. Maybe you can have a try if you don’t know how to clear junk files.

Method 3: Disable Some Unwanted Startup Programs

Go to Task Manager > Startup and look for the program that you don't want it to start automatically, right-click it, and choose Disable.

Method 4: End the Processes of Unnecessary Apps

Go to Task Manager > Processes, right-click the target App, and then choose End Task.

If it's new it's probably just trying to update. Turn it on, ma!e sure it's co nected to the internet and automatic updates is enabled. Start up windows update and let it go. Check on it from time to time to make sure it's not waiting for you to hit restart. This can sometimes go on for a couple of days.
