Why does wifi stop working after 12.3.1 update?

Why does wifi stop working after 12.3.1 update?

We have had about 15 ipad mini 4s completely lose wifi functionality after being updated to the newest OS. In every single case, wifi functioned normally until after the update. some of them were updating from 11.x to 12.3 or 12.3.1, some were going from 12.2 to 12.3 or 12.3.1. The switch in settings for wifi is greyed out and cannot be flipped, and no wifi signals are detected during setup stages (there are routinely 4-6 access points or signals found on any given device in our building). It is absolutely without a doubt NOT a problem with our wifi, as it only happens in these devices, and only after they are updated to 12.3 and above.

"We have had phones and tablets come in with the same type of issues. We have a new antenna coming in for one to see if that helps at all. I will keep you updated on the outcome of that. But right now it is looking like we are at the mercy of apple until they release a new update to fix the issue.

UPDATE:

the device that we had come in we replaced the two lower antenna's being the wifi antenna and the Bluetooth antenna and it worked perfectly no issues. This may or may not be the case for every iPad that you are experiencing this problem with."

"I have a customer using many iPad Minis. 2's and 4's. They're also having failing wireless modules, but it doesn't seem related to the 12.3.1 update.

In fact, I can make the wireless come back on, randomly, by holding the home and power button together for a reset. I have yet to determine how long that lasts. Sometimes the wireless is ‘off’, and has a greyed out switch, sometimes it’s ‘not connected’ but shows no networks, and other times it’s either connected or sees networks to connect to (depending on if I reset the network settings)

The Mini 2’s don’t have this issue. They’re breaking cameras, but no wireless. So it seems limited to the A1538’s."

"Admittedly this is gonna sound like some bs, but with the settings screen open and the Wi-Fi slider visible try this:

Push the sides of the iPad Mini towards each other with the palms of your hands *Imagine yourself giving Spongebob a Coke Bottle figure.

Don’t apply enough pressure to break it, but enough to be uncomfortable to hold for about 15 seconds.

If you didn’t go green and Hulk it to death in frustration, then you might see the Wi-Fi slider change from grey to green.

If it doesn’t turn green then turn it off and back on and it should work again for a while.

I haven’t seen this “fix” mentioned anywhere online so hopefully it helps and someone who is more knowledgeable than I, can chime in with why it works (assuming I’m not delusional) and what to do internally to address the issue in a permanent maner.
