engaging handle is stuck and will not go up to engage blades try to raise handle to engage blades but will not move , mower runs but blades will not engage

Is the blade engaged by magnetic switch or by belt clutch. If its by magnetic switch check to see that there's power getting to the switch . If its engaged by belts check to see if the belt is moving when you move the lever or if the lever mechanism is broke .Check the belt has it come off?
