sara, I would get to the "tummy switch" and check the circuit from there. You do have a couple of choices here. Check the switch, then the speaker. Check the connector for both. I had the same problem but mine had some noise and it was a normal furby.I changed the batterys and held recet for 20 seconds

I change the speaker with a new one. It works for me.
