Why are there horizontal lines randomly showing up on my screen?

Why are there horizontal lines randomly showing up on my screen? I bought my MBP back in 2012 and I haven't had any problems since. However, this past week has been really trouble some as it didn't want to turn on at all at the beginning of the week (this was fixed by unplugging and plugging back the battery connector).

go to display, color, colour lcd n press calibrate

when it cms to the setup presss continue till target white point , there change it too 9300 even though the screen is a bit diff and this is possibly a temporary fix just try it it worked for me!"

This is a GPU issue. Apple are now repairing all MBPs that have this problem. Book an appointment in the Genius Bar. I had the same issue with a MBP2011 and they fully replaced the entire thing for free!

Hi having read endless fixes for this rolling screen issue which I have suffered from for months , this USB how I fixed the rolling lines and flickering screen at no cost, simply plus in a monitor or tv screen through the hmdi or USB socket on your MacBook share screen and it’s fixed the issue, hope it works for you !

Have you tried to remove the RAM module from the lower bracket and restart your laptop with only the RAM module in the upper bracket? It is a known issue on this laptop.
