Why is my screen flickering and backlight completely shutting off?

Why is my screen flickering and backlight completely shutting off? This happens periodically, I'm sure it has something to do with the display cables.

If it's flickering, it is quite possible the inverter cable has just come lose and just needs to be reseated. When the backlight goes off, try tapping your top case near the top left and also the clutch cover around the left side. If this resolves it, then the cable may just need to be reseated.
