Why won't my MacBook Pro start?

I have just followed your instructions to install a new hard drive in my 15'' Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo A2116 and I would like to reinstall the OS but it will not start. I have held down the option key and the start button and had no response. It is plugged in and an orange light indicates that it is charging and the battery is lighting up on the back of the laptop. Help please!

If you get nothing when pressing the start button, reseat the top case to logic board connector and try again. There is no A2116, please check your number, or give us the last three figures of your serial number and we can identify it. (Located in the battery compartment).
