Can a 40gb+ really be installed into a 20gb iPod?

Can a 40gb+ really be installed into a 20gb iPod?
I am getting conflicting information on this. I am just wondering if I can install the 8mm (drive height) drives such as a 40 or 60gb into my 20gb iPod. The 20gb drive is 5mm tall. Someone else here answered this exact question by saying you could but you would need a new drive holder part... Perhaps thinner rubber piece to go around the drive?
