Is it normal wear/tear for 4 yr fridge get hole in water dispenser line

Is it normal wear/tear for 4 yr fridge get hole in water dispenser line Home owners' insurance wants to know if our leak was due to normal wear and tear or a failure. The line to the water dispenser leaked and a small hole was found in it upon inspection. It was a slow leak behind the fridge and under the tile floor doing a lot of damage.
