My Smart TV's sensor is not working.

My Smart TV's sensor is not working.

During breakfast, I was informed that the TV remote was broken. But after fiddling around with a camera, it appears that it wasn't the remote, but the TV sensor. I have tried disconnecting all accessories and unplugging the TV for a minute, but no dice. The joystick at the back of the TV still works, so my family can watch cable, but I mainly watch YouTube. Is there any way to fix?

ANSWERS:

"Hi,

Can only think that it may be a faulty IR receiver in the TV, IR receiver connection to the mainboard or if not either then a problem with the mainboard or perhaps the software.

Don’t know too much about Philips but have found a service manual online that may help.

Unfortunately you have to buy it, and it doesn’t contain a parts list but usually service manuals describe how to dis- assemble the device and also have circuit diagrams etc.

Armed with this you should be able to locate the IR receiver to initially see if it is connected OK. The sensor itself should have a component marking on it so that you should be able to find the datasheet online for the component and then you can test if it is OK or not and also be able to find a replacement part if not.

If the sensor is OK then it will be on the mainboard or the software (maybe on the same board anyway).

There is a Philips “app” available from the Apple store and the Google Play store that allows the phone to control the TV but it gets poor reviews for having too many ads and also for some it only worked for a short while

Sorry that’s all I can think of to try."
