Why does my TV screen keep shutting down?

Why does my TV screen keep shutting down? Every now and then the screen on my Philips 47PFL7696T/12 3D tv lets out a buzzing sound and the screen shuts down, the sound goes off and after several seconds it turns back on but the screen is full of red pixels and the colors have become brighter.
