Why is the LG HD TV display black and can only see a faint image?

I am an onsite engineer trying to rectify my end user who have problems with their LG HD TV.

ANSWERS:

"Hi @yjohari ,

Your TV model is an LCD TV so it will have fluorescent tubes for the backlighting and not LEDs. Having tubes means that there may be an inverter board for the tubes’ power supply.

Locate and inspect the inverter board for any leaking or bulging capacitors or other obviously damaged or stressed components. If nothing appears to be wrong it may be the connection to the backlights or in the panel itself. (See information in 2nd link that states that the tubes are EEFL type and are connected in parallel in the panel)

Here’s the service manual for the TV which may help. It also has a component parts list if you cannot determine what type of component a faulty component may be (look at component’s board designation) or its’ value and need to order a replacement.

Also here’s a link that describes what was checked on the same model TV having very nearly the same symptoms as yours.

Hopefully a start."
