In a special meeting of the Board of Directors on October 3, 2012, Megawide Construction Corporation authorized the establishment of a joint venture company with Citicore Holdings Investment, Inc to be named " CITICORE-MEGAWIDE CONSORTIUM, INC." (JVC).
The Board also approved the execution of a Shareholder's Agreement with Citicore Holdings Investment Inc., providing the terms and conditions on the establishment, operation and management of the JVC.
The Shareholder's Agreement was likewise signed on October 3, 2012.
CITICORE-MEGAWIDE CONSORTIUM, INC. (JVC) will be formed for purposes of undertaking the construction, maintenance and leasing of school buildings under the Public-Private Partnership for School Infrastructure Project (PSIP) of the Government through the Department of Education (DepEd), as provided in the "Build-Lease-Transfer Agreements PPP for School Infrastructure Contract Packages B and C" for Region III and IV-A, respectively.
The venture is seen to contribute to the objective of the government to accelerate the increase on the number of classrooms in public schools and cut its current shortage of around 66,800 classroom units nationwide.
