Icons of Greatness - It’s More Fun in the Philippines

The Department of Tourism (DOT) launched its program entitled Icons of Greatness-It’s More Fun in the Philippines from August 28 to November 2012. The Icons of Greatness is a program that seeks to involve youth participation in the search for heroes and important events through tour itinerary-making and poster making competition.
The Program aims to:
  1. honor great Filipinos and significant events in the evolution of the Filipino nation;
  2. enhance the appreciation of greatness in the people and give new meaning to old places by re-contextualizing them in the life or event of an icon; and
  3. inculcate in the youth the patriotism, nationalism, and encourage their involvement in public and civic affairs;
The program is open to all Filipino youths aged 15 to 30 years old (Republic Act (R.A.) No. 8044 Section 2 – Policy residing in the Philippines.)

The deadline for submission of entries is on October 31, 2012.

Participation of both public and private schools shall be subject to the no-disruption-of-classes policy as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled "Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.”
