DepEd announces Capability Building for SPED Teachers, Administrators, and Supervisors under the Human Resource Training and Development

In support of the DepEd's (Department of Education) thrust on improving the quality of education for children with special needs, the Bureau of Elementary Education (BEE), Special Education (SPED) Division announces the conduct of the Capability Building for SPED Teachers, Administrators and Supervisors under the Human Resource Training and Development.

The scholarship program aims to provide the SPED teachers, administrators and supervisors knowledge and skills on various educational programs and interventions appropriate for children with special needs. The program will be conducted in the following selected Centers of Excellence (COEs) beginning April 11, 2011:

Luzon Area
  • Venue - Philippine Normal University (PNU), Taft Avenue, Manila
  • Participants - from Regions 1, 2, 3, 4 - CALABARZON, 4 - MIMAROPA, 5, NCR and CAR
Visayas Area
  • Venue - Cebu Normal University (CNU), Cebu City
  • Participants - from Regions 6, 7, 8
Mindanao Area
  • Venue - University of Southeastern Philippines (USP), Davao City
  • Participants - from Regions 9, 10, 11, 12, Caraga and ARMM
Priority nominees shall come from the identified regions/divisions/schools where there is an urgent need for trained SPED teachers (See Enclosure No. 1). These nominees shall be screened by the existing Regional Integrated Scholarship Committe (RISC) based on the criteria set in Enclosure No. 2. The deadline for the submission of nominees to the SPED Division is on March 30, 2011. The list of candidates together with the documents and the Memorandum of Agreement (Training Contract) duly signed by the proper authorities concerned (See Enclosure No. 3) shall be forwarded to the Special Education Division, Bureau of Elementary Education, DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City on or before March 30, 2011.

The SPED scholars are entitled to their salaries, course tuition fees and a stipend. Travel expenses at the most economical mode of transportation shall also be provided including per diem for two (2) days (1 day before and 1 day after) in going to and from the venue which will be paid on the last week of the course.
