When it rains, it pours, or so the saying goes. For Dr. Juan Javier "Jombi” Lichauco, this tenet cannot be more true than the day he was formally recognized as the 1 millionth postpaid subscriber of Sun Cellular.
Indeed, there is luck in numbers, and combined with the right timing, the sun truly shone brightly for the 42-year-old internal medicine and rheumatology physician from St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Aside from bringing home the coolest gadgets as gifts from Sun Cellular, his name will forever be etched in the mobile phone network’s corporate history.
"I know that nothing happens by coincidence but it’s always a pleasant surprise… I didn’t think that this will be such a big event,” he enthused, referring to the recognition ceremony given in his honor. "I knew that this was a company milestone; but the reception they gave was more than what I had expected,” Dr. Lichauco can only express in awe.
Prior to his personal postpaid line application that made him the one millionth postpaid subscriber, Dr. Lichauco was already using Sun courtesy of St. Luke’s Medical Center’s corporate account with Sun Cellular . "I’ve been using it for six (6) years. But as I got busier, I needed more phones to use for my medical practice and farming business,” explained the 42-year-old doctor. This was why he applied for 3 subscriptions of Sun Plan 350. "I think the two most important things in communication are reliability and affordability. Those are the reasons why I use Sun.”
WELCOME TO THE SUN CELLULAR FAMILY
Dr. Lichauco was officially welcomed to the Sun family during an awarding ceremony at The Sun Shop Robinsins Galleria led by no less than JG Summit Chairman and CEO Mr. James L. Go, Sun Cellular Business Unit CEO Mr. Charles Lim and other Sun Cellular executives, Sun Cellular VP for Postpaid/ New Business Mr. Ricky Peña, Sun Cellular VP for CRM Mr. Reuben Pangan, Sun Cellular VP for Retail Management Mr. Faraday Go, and Sun Cellular AVP for Postpaid Acquisition Ms. Neph Denosta. He was overjoyed with the warm reception and the tokens he bagged for the unique distinction of being the 1 millionth postpaid subscriber: BlackBerry Bold 9700 handset, an HP Mini 110 Netbook, a Huawei ETS 3023, three (3) Fixed Load Plans plus two years worth of free Sun Cellular services such as Sun BlackBerry Add-On plan, Sun Broadband Wireless, SunTel wireless landline, and P1000 worth of Sun Cellular prepaid products. Indeed, how lucky can one get?
Dr. Lichauco, his parents and sister-in-law were then treated to a sumptuous Chinese luncheon reception at the Xin Tian Di, Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila where another surprise awaited them- the personal appearance of celebrity endorser Aga Muhlach.
THE 24/7 DOCTOR RELIES ON 24/7 CTU
Dr. Lichauco makes himself available especially to his patients. For him, accessibility is very important whatever time of the day it is, wherever he may be. "You cannot help it when patients call in-between your clinical practice.” This, he said, is what makes Sun Cellular’s 24/7 Call and Text Unlimited (CTU) very important.
When asked if he shares his mobile phone number, Dr. Lichauco said that he gives out his professional contact number to his patients. "Yes, I do, especially to those who have serious medical problems and also for patients who are based outside of Manila,” he explains.
SUN CELLULAR HITS 1M POSTPAID SUBSCRIBERS
Sun Cellular celebrated another milestone in its history as it is the first in the country to hit the one million subscribers for postpaid. This feat proved that Sun is the people’s choice in postpaid mobile phone service. For the third consecutive year, up to seven out of 10 new postpaid subscribers choose Sun Cellular.
Sun Cellular’s Business Unit CEO Mr. Charles Lim credits this achievement to Sun’s unmatched unlimited service and rates. Both of these are possible because Sun’s network uses the latest technology available. "We can meet peak load demand without congestion. We got the latest and the best infrastructure, and are offering rates that could reduce a subscriber’s cost anywhere from 40 to 80 percent per month,” he said.
