Are all bluetooth adapters the same?

Are all bluetooth adapters the same? I have a wireless bluetooth mouse which I'm not using. It used to have a bluetooth adapter with it, which I lost a long time ago ... (don't ask). Since my regular mouse just died (bad contact in cable from messing with it too much) I was thinking of buying just the new generic bluetooth adapter ?

Bluetooth is bluetooth (at least as far as mice are concerned). However, was the mouse really Bluetooth? Most cordless mice are not actually Bluetooth, but rather are proprietary wireless technology. If they lack the Bluetooth logo, they're probably not Bluetooth.
