My monitor isn't detecting a signal from my gpu

So, I’ve recently bought a GTX 1660 gaming oc 6gb, I’ve installed the graphics card, but since my monitor doesn’t have a hdmi port, I bought a hdmi to vga adapter, but when I turn my pc on, my monitor just says no input signal. I’ve updated my BIOS to the latest version I could find, I’ve tried rearangeing the ram sticks, and I’ve tried to take out and put back in the gpu lots of time, but none of this seems to help . And when I remove my graphics card and plug my vga cable into the motherboard, the screen works. As far as I know, the motherboard should work with my gpu, since I’ve checked on the internet and it says that they are compatible

@tatrumi really sounds like the issue is with your hdmi to vga adapter. Everything works as should when you remove it. Sounds like you got a decent gaming machine put together and it maybe time to consider updating your monitor.
