"From your description it sounds like you have a crack in the LCD of your touch screen display. The image being distorted is a dead giveaway. With a touch screen display you have two major parts that make a touch screen function. The digitizer is a thin transparent sheet that is adhered to the outermost sheet of glass with a transparent conductive adhesive. The digitizer is responsible for sensing touch on the screen. The second part of the display is the LCD which sits under the digitizer and is only responsible for displaying the image on the screen. So if the image is distorted or not displayed correctly than the LCD in the display is at fault.

So you will need to replace the LCD in the display to fix a distorted screen. If touch is also not functioning correctly then a new display assembly (digitizer/LCD) would be needed."
