Trackpad touch and left button doesnt work after small water spill.

Trackpad touch and left button doesnt work after small water spill.

Yesterday, I spilled less than a teaspoon of water on my 15-ba054sa's trackpad and now the tap on the trackpad, and the left click button are out of use. I've tried using a hair dryer on low heat, and keeping my laptop upside down over night. Everything else on the laptop works normally aside from the left click and the trackpad hand motions, and tap. What can I do to try and fix this?

I had this same problem; I actually touched the touchpad with slightly wet hands and it stopped working. I spread the slightest bit of baby oil/oily cream, weird as it sounds, just on the touchpad and then wiped with a towel, and this has completely worked for me. Hoping I could be of help to anyone.

It took from Thursday afternoon till Saturday afternoon, but it’s working. And it really wasn’t that much — it was HOT coffee and probably a tablespoon, but every drop on the touch pad. I did turn it off and on during the 48 hours. Checking. Had kinda given up. I set it up like a camping tent and a couple of times a day used my blow dryer on low — and swirled it around inside and on the backside where the vents are. At night, it was next to my ceramic space heater. I also gave it belly rubs a couple of times a day, and now — all seems to be well. Something kept trying to update when I’d turn it on a couple of times, but it would hang up, so this last time as it began to “update” or spin or whatever, I just decided to walk away and leave it alone and when I came back in 10 long minutes, it was working. it is still in warranty, but I just didn’t want to deal with the COVID drama of whatever I’d need to do. So, don’t despair — belly rubs.
