No audio devices installed, probably after Win 10 update

"Thanks Mario, I have done that more than once.

Unfortunately the system still refuses to acknowledge that there is anything audio in it. Even the device manager has nothing about audio... I'm afraid the sound card may be cactus ... :(

It's a 5-6 year old toshiba c650, used at least 10 hours daily for work and play, which over the years has survived more than 10 overseas trips, at least 3 falls from the hood of the car and various other smaller falls, like off the coffee table...lol, a smashed screen, 3 worn out keyboards, repaired/modified hinges... a couple of burnt out RAM chips and probably more injuries which I can't recall ... and it still goes like a trooper.

I strongly recommend TOSHIBA as far as durability goes...

Anyhow, the gf bought me a slick upmarket dell notebook, so now the big T is semi-retired, doing work and other non audio related stuff... Maybe I'll take it to the computer repair shop, just for sentimental reasons..."
