How to Close Your BDO Bank Account?

It's very important to close your BDO bank account especially if your BDO passbook or ATM has been stolen or lost.

Why?

In order to avoid unauthorized access or unauthorized withdrawals of your money.

Here are two (2) options in closing your BDO bank account:
How to Close BDO Bank Account?

Option 1

For urgent or emergency situations, call BDO Customer Service immediately. And request for blocking of your bank account. This will not close your bank account. Rather, it will stop any unauthorized access or unauthorized withdrawals of your bank account. The unauthorized person who holds your ATM or Passbook cannot withdraw, transfer money or do any transactions of your bank account. To close your bank account, you must go to a BDO branch, bring your VALID ID (government-issued ID) and request for closure of your bank account.

Option 2

Another option is to withdraw all the money from your BDO bank account. If you don't do any transactions (withdraw, deposit, transfer money, pay bills, etc.) with your BDO bank account for two years, it will automatically closed. A BDO bank account without transaction for two years will be considered dormant. You have to pay the below maintaining balance penalty and you will be charged a dormancy service fee in case you want to re-activate your dormant bank account. So, it's better not to use it or not to reactivate it.

Note: You can still open a new BDO bank account in another BDO branch if you want. There are still many banks out there who are willing to render their service to you.
