You can create the real multiplication sign (×) in two different ways:
Using your keyboard's numeric pad (numpad) located in the right side of the keyboard, hold the Alt
button while pressing number 0215
in the numpad.

If you don't have a numpad in your keyboard, the easiest way to create multiplication sign in your laptop is thru copy-paste. Just copy and paste the multiplication sign (×).
