Clarificatory Statement in the Procurement of Textbooks and Other Instructional Materials With Reference to the "Textbook Policy"

The Department of Education (DepEd) intends to clarify provisions in textbook procurement as mentioned in DepEd Memorandum No. 289, s. 2004, also known as the "Textbook Policy."

Item No. 4. Textbook Procurement, shall be further clarified, to wit:

"This requirement however shall not apply to titles, over which the Department does not hold copyright authorization to reprint, which are existing and in use in public schools or are in the process of being procured before the promulgation of this policy. If the Department continues to use these titles and would find the need to replenish these, then the Department may procure these through Direct Contracting".
