My "Enter key" on my keyboard is not working.

My "Enter key" on my keyboard is not working.

The "Enter key" on my Sony VAIO PCG-3E2L is responded when I pressed it. All other keys are working properly. Do I have to replace the whole keyboard pad?

Check all running application at background. Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete command to open task manager and see all the applications having impact on memory at the moment. Close all one by one and restart your device. If it is still not working then the enter key is broken. You could replace it or use Ctrl+M instead of enter key.

"If the Enter key is not working, there is a high chance the Enter key is fine, but some other key is stuck, most likely ALT, CTRL, SHIFT, DEL, any key that would not show up doing something immediately. Try to tap those keys a couple of times to get them unstuck. If that doesn’t work, clean the entire keyboard. But just know that it most likely isn’t the Enter key itself.

Another thing you can do is check if the same happens to the enter key on your numeric keypad, if you have one. If BOTH of them don’t work, you can be positive it’s another key keeping it from working."

"When the keys on the keyboard are not working properly, it is important to make sure that the keyboard is cleaned properly. Using a can of compressed air could be used to free up any dust that may be preventing the key to work. It is possible to replace the “enter” key and get a response, but it may be necessary to replace the parts under the key that it needs to function. The parts and assembly instructions can be found from a distributor of Sony products or a third-party distributor. The following link has instructions on how to troubleshoot the problem with the keyboard, and it also provides information about service options for this particular issue:

"I hope the suggestions above worked for you,

because they did not for me.

If all the above did not work for you,

And your Enter Key is opening up Power Options,

Check if your Windows Mobility Centre is open.

You might have opened it with the shortcut ”Win + X”.

The Enter key will not work especially if the keyboard cursor is focused on the Power Options in there.

So,

CLOSE the Windows Mobility Centre window.

That should work.

If that still doesn’t work,

Open Task Manager and find the EXPLORER.EXE task under the Processes Tab.

Right-click it and click on Restart.

That should do a mini software reboot on your system (Without actually switching off your system).

That, then, should work.

If this helped you, indicate and upvote that it did.

So others too can find this when they need it."

Maybe the enter key has a build up of debris, try using compressed air to clean the keyboard. If still unresponsive, the enter key is broken. You can use alternate methods such as control M, or replace keyboard.

"The CTRL+M works just for sony vaio only . It does not work for HP or something else . At first try cleaning the entire Key board , if it does not work yet that means your key is broken . Try to use the given suggestion as an alternative . If it still does not work yet just replace it with another Enter Key . You do not have to replace the whole Key board to fix it .
