Can I use my father's surname on the ATM card instead of using my husband's surname?

Sometimes you might have an issue or problem with your husband and you want to open or apply an ATM card in a bank (for example in Banco de Oro or BDO), and you want to use your father's surname or the family name when you were still single or not married. Does the bank like for example BDO allow you to use your father's surname on the ATM card instead of your husband's surname?
ATM Card

Answer

According to a BDO Customer Representative, the name which will appear on the ATM Card is based on the documents that will be submitted to BDO. So you can still use your father's surname if you submit valid id's or documents which have a family name after your father's surname.

Tips
  • If you want to use your father's surname, make sure you're using your father's surname when you apply for valid id's (postal id, voter's id, driver's license, TIN, company ID). This could be applicable to those who have deceased husband. You're going to use these id's when you apply for a bank account such as ATM.
  • Make sure your valid id's are not expired when you apply or open an ATM card (account) in the bank.
Do you have any problem or concern in using your father's surname when applying for ATM account?
